Top-Rating RSPO Shared Responsibility Score
MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP achieves a value that sets new standards
9.1 out of a possible 10 points – with this result in the RSPO Shared Responsibility Score, the MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP is one of the most sustainable consumer goods manufacturers worldwide. Only around 11% of companies achieve this rating. This puts the MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP well above the industry average. Companies with a score of 8.5 or higher are considered “top performers” – currently, there are fewer than 70 members worldwide. The scorecard is publicly available and is regularly updated to make progress transparent and promote dialogue with stakeholders.
The RSPO Shared Responsibility Scorecard assesses four key areas: supply chain transparency, environmental and climate protection, respect for human rights and fair working conditions, and responsible use of resources. For consumer goods manufacturers, the target for 2025 is 12% certified palm oil – a target that the MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP already significantly exceeds today.
Palm oil: Focus on efficiency and responsibility
Palm oil is an indispensable ingredient in modern personal care products. It acts as an emulsifier, moisturizer, and consistency enhancer – and is particularly productive: The oil palm yields an average of 3.5 tons of oil per hectare, significantly more than other oil plants. Switching to alternatives such as coconut or rapeseed oil would multiply the amount of land required and merely shift ecological problems elsewhere. The MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP therefore relies on certified palm and palm kernel oil and promotes sustainable cultivation methods directly in the countries of origin.
This clearly shows how a sustainable raw materials strategy and measurable responsibility can go hand in hand. The RSPO certification is not only a seal of quality, but also a clear signal: sustainability is not a trend, but an integral part of corporate strategy.
